Cannot send/receive data to/from the mobile computer/scanner

When attempting to send or receive data on your mobile computer or scanner you receive an error message. When you send data to the mobile computer the CE Batch Synchronization Utility needs to know where the synchronization URL is. This is configured typically during the initial installation. The synchronization URL looks like a web address, but it points to a computer on your network and looks like the following:

http://DESKTOP-5AKLDO4/IntelliTrack/sqlcesa35.dll

The DESKTOP-5AKLDO4 is the name of the computer that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) on your network and is typically the same PC that has the IntelliTrack SQL database on it.

If you are having trouble sending or receiving data on the mobile computer this is most likely the cause of the problem. If you have another computer that is able to send and receive data on the mobile computer you will want to see what the sync URL is on that computer. You can do this by launching the CE Batch Synchronization Utility from the workstation.

Click on the Preferences tab then select Upload Processing.

Make a note of the Sync URL and then click on the Test Button. If successful a browser will open and it will display the text “Microsoft SQL Compact Server Agent” as shown below.

Make a note of the computer name and then enter the computer name in the Sync URL of the computer that is unable to send or receive data on the mobile computer. be sure to click on Save then Test to ensure it is now working.

If the test does not work, ask your IT support to ensure that the Internet Information Services (IIS) service is running on the computer that the Sync URL points to.
